VERDICT
The Hundai GL 150 Premio is a cosmetic clone of the Bajaj Pulsar 150. The Hundai GL 150 Premio was made as a cosmetic clone, but it has a life of its own. It may have almost everything similar to the Pulsar, but the bike gets its engine from Hundai. The bike also gets its other interior features, such as the brakes from Hundai as well.
Hundai is a Chinese motorcycle brand. Hundai bikes are imported by Rupsha Trading Corporation. Rupsha Trading is also responsible for Zongshen motorcycles in Bangladesh. They import most of these bikes in CKD conditions and then assemble them here in Bangladesh. Rupsha is one of the oldest motorcycle manufacturers of the country. They have made a serious name for themselves in the motorcycle industry of Bangladesh.
Key Features:
The first key feature of the Hundai GL 150 Premio is the dashboard. The dashboard contains everything a rider needs on a day to day basis and more. The dashboard comes with a digital display, an analog rpm gauge, and a set of indicator LEDs. The digital display shows the time, gear position, the odometer, and the amount of fuel. The dashboard is a complete copy of the Bajaj Pulsar 150.
However, unlike the Bajaj Pulsar 150, the Hundai GL 150 Premio comes with a pipe handle bar instead of a three piece handle bars setup.
The second key feature of the Hundai GL 150 Premio is the light system of the bike. The bike comes with a well-designed headlight, indicators, and a rear light. The indicators are halogen, thin, minimalistic, and sporty, unlike most bulky indicators. The rear light is small and quite lite. The headlight however reminds you of the Bajaj Pulsar 150.
The Hundai GL 150 Premio comes in four colors now. They are:
Black.
All of the aforementioned colors have the same kind of decals.
Physical Attributes:
The Hundai GL 150 Premio is a short bike with a short saddle height. The bike is suitable for people who are shorter than 5’11”, as people taller than that would have a hard time adjusting to the bike. The bike also has a 13liter fuel capacity, which is enough.
The length, width, height, and weight of the Hundai GL 150 Premio are 2110mm, 730mm, 1135mm, and 129.5kg respectively. The bike is one of the lightest bikes in the 150cc segment, which makes it easy to flick and swerve. The bike also has a wheelbase of 1290, which is not very big.
Engine and Transmission:
The Hundai GL 150 Premio comes with a single-cylinder, 4-stroke, and 148cc air-cooled engine. The engine is of Euro-3 grade, which means air pollution by this bike will be significantly less. There are both self and kick-start of the bike. The engine pumps out a maximum of 13.8BHP of power at 9500rpm and 12.8Nm of torque at 7500rpm. The maximum torque and power kick in quite late in this bike, which makes it rather fuel-efficient. Although it is a carburetor engine, it consumes 40kmpl on average, which is quite good.
The Hundai GL 150 Premio comes with a basic wet, multi-plate clutch. The bike also has a 5-speed gearbox, which has a linear power delivery to the engine. The gear shifter has both front and rear pedal to help with shifting and to avoid damage to shoes.
Brakes, Suspensions, and Wheels:
The Hundai GL 150 Premio comes with a single-disc setup. The front is a disc brake. The front brake is quite good, which is quite good. However, the rear brake is a drum brake, which is a bit disappointing. This bike would have done better if it had rear disc brake.
The Hundai GL 150 Premio comes with telescopic forks at the front as suspension. The front suspension works well on bumpy roads. The rear suspension is a twin shock suspension setup. The rear suspension is good enough for the bumpy rides inside the city, but is not very good for cornering at high speeds.
The Hundai GL 150 Premio comes with alloy wheels. The front and rear wheels have 2.75-18 and 3.25-18 section tires. The rear tire being a bit thin, the bike may skid during emergency braking situations. The tire would have been better if they were 3.50-18.
Target Audience:
The Hundai GL 150 Premio was made for the young new riders in the block. The bike may not be the best for highway rides but is good for regular commutes and rides around the city. For new riders, this bike is forgiving. With CBS, adjustable rear suspension, and low saddle height, this bike is perfect for new riders who are still learning. They will also not get overwhelmed when riding this bike, as the power of the bike is low.
Competitors:
The Hundai GL 150 Premio has a few competitors and they are capable of giving this bike a run for its money.
Bajaj Pulsar 150 series.
Apache RTR 150 series.
Benelli TNT 150.
Hero Hunk series.
All in all, the Hundai GL 150 Premio is a good 150cc commuter bike within the 150cc to 135cc range. The bike is expected to hold up the Keeway name with its features and affordability. The Hundai GL 150 Premio is a good sports commuter for the daily commuter out there.
