VERDICT
One of the most beautiful bike series in the world is considered the Italian Ducati Panigale series. The Ducati Panigale V4 is so beautiful that this is considered the Ferrari of bikes.
Due to the cubic capacity limit (cc limit) of Bangladesh, we do not get any bike above 165cc. However, there is no need to be disheartened, the local importers of Bangladesh are here to save the day.
The GPX Demon 150R is the cosmetic clone of the Ducati Panigale V4. However, this is not a 1100cc beast like a Ducati Panigale V4; this is a 150cc sportbike, also considered as a mini Panigale. Here we will be giving a review of the GPX Demon 150R and will also be explaining the specifications of the bike.
GPX is a Thai brand of motorcycles. The GPX branded motorcycles are presently being imported by Hafsa Mart under the concern of KR Industries Bangladesh. These bikes initially struggled to make a name for themselves in Bangladesh, but are presently slowly receiving popularity due to their quality and design. The GPX Demon 150R has also gained slight popularity over the years due to the uncanny resemblance to the Ducati Panigale V4.
Key Features:
The GPX Demon 150R is a mini sportbike that comes with complete sport ergonomics and specifications. The bike gets a complete race setup, with the full-faired body, color scheme, sporty clip-ons for handlebars, and inverted suspension also known as the “USD suspension” which inspires riders to hit the tracks any chance they get. However, the biggest problem is that we do not have any tracks in Bangladesh.
The GPX Demon 150R comes in two color schemes. They are:
- Red.
- Red and white.
- White.
- Black and white.
The only Red and only White version of the bike comes with almost no special decals just like the Panigale V4. However, the Red and white, and the Black and White version of the bike comes with special white decals that give the bike a very sporty look.
The GPX Demon 150R comes with a full LED setup. The head section of the bike comes with two LED Day Running Light (DRL) which make the bike look very premium. The headlight of the bike is full LED with two separate sections for the high-beam and low-beam. The headlight of the bike is the main reason that looks like the Panigale V4. The taillight and the indicators of the bike are also LED, which make the bike look very attractive and unique.
Physical Attributes:
The GPX Demon 150R is a sporty bike that comes with full sporty ergonomics. The bike has a low seating position of 780mm which is good for any rider above the height of 5’3”. The bike has a widespread out seat with the bike also coming with a split pillion seat which gives the rider and the pillion some privacy. However, the bike does not have any specific grabrails which makes the bike unsuitable to ride with a pillion. The bike has 8liters of fuel capacity which makes it quite difficult to travel long distances with.
The length, width, height, and weight of the GPX Demon 150R are 1835mm, 750mm, 1050mm, and 130kg respectively. The bike is quite light, which makes it very nimble at corners and easy to flick from one side to another quite easily. The bike has a wheelbase of 1230mm, which is not very much for a sportbike and it makes the bike a bit unstable while leaning at the corners.
Engine and Transmission:
The GPX Demon 150R comes with a single-cylinder, 4-stroke, and 149cc engine. The engine is carbureted, and air-cooled. There is no information about the power and torque figures of the bike, but it can be expected to pump out the power of at least 13BHP and torque of 13Nm.
The BikeBD test ride revealed that the bike can hit a speed of 0-60kmph in merely 4 seconds and a speed of 0-100 in merely 12seconds. The power is quite enough for the bike to be called a sportbike. Since the bike is carbureted, it can be expected that the bike will have a fuel economy of a minimum of 30kmpl.
The GPX Demon 150R comes with a basic wet multi-plate clutch system with a 6-speed gearbox. The 6-speed gearbox will be fun to ride with as the bike will have power even at the 6th gear. The bike is expected to have a top speed of around 130kmph.
Brakes, Suspensions, and Wheels:
The GPX Demon 150R comes with a dual disc brake setup. The front of the bike comes with a disc with axially mounted calipers. The front brake of the bike is expected to perform decently as the disc is quite big. The rear is a basic disc brake. The rear brake increases the braking profile of the bike. The turn off is the fact that the bike does not come with any CBS or ABS. At this price, a CBS would have done wonders to the bike.
The GPX Demon 150R comes with upside-down suspensions at the front and basic mono-shock at the rear. The USD suspension at the front is good for leaning at the corners, but the bike is not very friendly when it comes to face to face with a speed-bump. The rear mono-shock will be very helpful to keep the bike stable while leaning. This suspension increases the sporty profile of the bike.
The GPX Demon 150R comes with a very unique tire setup. The front tire and rear tires are 120/70, and 140/70 respectively. The wide tire setup of the bike makes it a very stable and comfortable bike. The handling of the bike is off the roof just for the tires of the bike. The rear tire allows the bike to lean and brake easily, while the front tire of the bike keeps it very stable while doing both.
Target Audience:
The GPX Demon 150R is for the young generation and the youngsters of Bangladesh. The bike will attract people who are looking for a sportbike but is on a budget. The bike is also great for intermediate riders who are just upgrading from a commuter bike or a sports commuter to an entry-level sportbike. This bike will also be a bit difficult for beginner riders.
Competitors:
At this price range, not many sportbikes are available. However, the available bikes are mentioned below:
- Regal Raptor Sports GTR.
- Taro GP-2 Sport.
- Taro GP-1 Sport.
Initially, the GPX Demon 150R was considered to be a Chinese sportbike to the Bangladeshi public, but later once it became known that it is a Thai based bike, the bike started receiving quite some praise. The GPX Demon 150R has a good amount of popularity among the young crowd of Bangladesh. The GPX Demon 150R, regardless of being a cosmetic clone of the Ducati Panigale V4, is a great bike with sufficient specifications.
