VERDICT
Everyone in Bangladesh knows an FZ it is the most loved, most cherished and most desired bike from the beginning. In 2010 we first heard about Yamaha FZ or FZs or FZ16 will be coming in Bangladesh (Source).
From that moment to the launch every bike lover was very excited about it. The FZ is the first street naked to come in Bangladesh and for that, it was the most wanted among the young bikers. Why!!! Let’s find out.
Design:
The YAMAHA FZ got its body styling from the FZ1 or FZS1000 Fazer. It has a big muscular, contoured, forward leaned fuel tank just like higher capacity bikes. The outer parts are made of plastic but the fit and finish are good. The headlight is a typical FZ type.
The was the first bike of many things in the 150cc street bike such as the 140 section rear tires, the 41mm front shocks. The consumers of the 150cc street bikes want these two things which all of a sudden can change the look of the bike not to mention the handling performance.

The seat, side panels, and rear cowls, tail lamp, the exhaust design all are taken straight from the FZ1. It looks absolutely a beast of a bike as per looks goes.
Instrument Console:
The instrument console of the FZS is an all Digital unit. The LED is panel has arranged backlit. The console is equipped with a tachometer, a speedometer, an odometer, trip meter, and a fuel gauge. The turn signal indicator, headlight indicator, and service indicator are placed in the sides of the console. The console needs a bit time to get adjusted to.
Switch gears:
The switch gears of the FZS are standard and of premium quality as every Yamaha bikes. Other switch gears include pass lights, headlight switch and other common switches included push-button start and Engine kill switch.
Engine:
The FZS is powered by an all-new 150 cc engine which is a 153 cc single-cylinder, air-cooled, 2-valve, SOHC engine. The engine has 58 mm bore and 57.9 mm stroke means it is a square-shaped cylinder. The compression ratio is 9.5:1 which ensure the longevity of the engine.
This engine can produce 14 PS of peak power at 7500 RPM and 14 NM of torque at 6000 RPM which is enough. The engine uses the wet-sump lubrication like most bikes.
This bike comes with 12 Liter fuel tank and feeds through a carburetor. The Wet weight is 135 Kg (with full fuel and oil) hence the bike has a power to weight ratio of 4.7 HP per 100 KG. It has both Electric and kicks starter.
Transmission, Clutch, and Final Drive Train:
The YAMAHA FZS is mated with a 5-speed constant mesh gearbox. This transmission uses a wet multi-plate type clutch. The gear shifts are an international pattern that means 1 down and 4 up. The bike is equipped with a toe shifter so you have to worry about your shoe’s. The final drive is chain and sprockets.
Electricals:
The YAMAHA FZS uses a 12 V-5 Ah Maintenance Free battery. The bike uses a CDI or Capacitor Discharge Ignition System. The Bike has bright 35/35 W Multi reflector clear lens Halogen AC head lamp, 5/21 W tail/ Brake light, each 10 W clear lens turn signal light and all other lights are 1 W each.
Wheels and Tires:
The FZS is equipped with 17 inches five-spoke Black finished Alloy rims. The rims are fitted with a 100/80-17 tubeless tire at the front and 140/60-17 tubeless tire at the rear. Which is ginormous in this segment.
Breaks:
The FZS comes with a 267 mm disk brake with a dual-piston caliper in the front and 130mm drum brake at the rear. The disk brake setup should deliver just enough and linear braking performance.
Suspension:
The FZS is equipped with a beefy 41mm Telescopic coil spring; oil damped forks at the front and a monoshock at the rear which are attached with rectangular swing arm. This suspension is superb in this segment for soaking up all the bumps of all kind roads with even a pillion in the back and offering great comfort at the same time.
Chassis & Dimensions:
YAMAHA used a Diamond type frame for the foundation of the FZS which should give better stability at any time. The YAMAHA FZS has an overall length of 1975 mm, the width of 770 mm, the height of 1045 mm and ground clearance of 160 mm, the wheelbase of 1335 mm. The wet weight (with a tool kit, oil & 100% of fuel) of the bike is 135 kg. These mean that the bike has an average footprint in terms of dimensions.
Comfort and Handling:
The FZS is a very comfortable bike to ride, thanks to its well-cushioned seat and well-engineered shocks. The handling of this bike is very easy thanks to its 1335 mm wheelbase. The bike has 160 mm ground clearance which is enough for any road condition on Bangladesh.

Performance:
This is the part where the FZS shines like a glitter. The bike is made for performance. The performance on the traffics, city roads. It’s an ultra flick-able bike.
But with the performance, the efficiency gets thrown out of the window and same happened with this bike too. The average mileage per litter fuel is around 25-30 KM.
Conclusion:
The Yamaha FZS is a perfect Street naked in the 150 cc segment with performance, elegance, and style. The bike is a lord of the street as it is advertised. It is highly recommended for any rider who wants to ride in style as it is a very capable bike.
