The world was amazed to see Yamaha release a 150cc flagship bike at the time of such sales loss in the company (Yamaha India). People were initially interested in the bike’s front view. The Yamaha R15 was made using the Yamaha R1 DNA. But the problem was the bike’s rear view. The rear of the bike’s design was quite simple. This is why people were not very happy about the bike’s rear.
But everything changed when Yamaha designed the Yamaha R15 V2. People were shocked with the change in design. People went crazier for this bike. The new design and the 0.6BHP increase in power was enough to turn the Yamaha R15 V2 into the poster bike of every biker.
Next came the Yamaha R15 V3, which took the whole industry by storm. The Yamaha R15 V3 set a whole benchmark for the amount of power a 150cc production bike can have. The Yamaha R15 V3 was tagged as the “Lord of the Streets”. Anyone from Bangladesh, India and other Asian countries could take the Yamaha R15 V3 and tear the streets apart. It didn’t matter if there were higher capacity bikes on the road, the Yamaha R15 V3 was holding the throne like a true king.
Finally Yamaha R15 V4 and the Yamaha R15M made its way into the market. Although the new bikes were well received, people still couldn’t get over the intoxicating feeling of the Yamaha R15 V3. All in all the Yamaha R15 made a serious impact on the Asian market.
Now let us get into the price of the bike. The things that are considered when prices are set:
Research and Development.
Inflation.
Local market.
Research and Development:
Yamaha takes the time to research all aspects of a bike before clearing it for production. Yamaha takes the time to know what their users and potential customers are looking for. Which is why we saw such an aggressive change in the rear of the bike during the second iteration of the bike. We also saw the sudden increase in power of the bike during the third iteration. These changes were done in order to satisfy the customer. People are happy with how the bike has turned out finally, and the whole credit goes to the Research and Development (R&D) of Yamaha.
Inflation:
With the increasing prices of everything, the prices of bikes have also increased significantly. When prices of metal increase, the production cost rises. If the price of plastic increases, the production cost rises. In any change in the prices of the international market, the prices of the product also increase quite significantly. This is why with inflation, there is an increase in the price of the product.
Local Market:
There are two markets in Bangladesh for any bike. One is the official market and the other one is the unofficial market. The official market prices vary between different companies. However, one of the major reasons for this difference in price is the after sales services. In official markets the Yamaha R15 has a bit high price. This is because Yamaha Bangladesh has skilled technicians trained according to Yamaha Standard. However, in unofficial markets, the after sales services are quite questionable.
The prices of every bike has a lot of things to be considered. In the case of the Yamaha R15, the price is quite high because it is the most popular bike in the South Asian region. The other reasons for this high price are also explained above.
