Yamaha R15 V3

Yamaha R15 V3 is a sports bike. It has a fuel injected engine which spits out about 19BHP of power at 10000RPM and 14.7NM of torque at about 8500RPM. The compression ratio of the bike is about 11.6:1, which affects the fuel efficiency of the bike for the better. Over the years, the Yamaha R15 V3 has maintained the title of “The king of the roads” in Bangladesh. Although the new rendition of the bike has already set its foot on the Bangladeshi market, the Yamaha R15 V3 still remains one of the highest sought out bikes in Bangladesh.

With the fuel prices increasing in Bangladesh one question comes to mind for all Yamaha R15 V3 owners and aspiring Yamaha R15 V3 buyers. Is the Yamaha R15 V3 the best for long tours?

The answer consists of a few points that are required for long rides:

  • Power.
  • Comfort.
  • Efficiency.
  • Maintenance.

Power:

Power is one of the most important things while going on long rides. This is because when on the highway, you need as much power as possible. When you are overtaking a vehicle or if the road is a high speed road, a bike with lower power will not be adequate. In these cases a bike with higher power is always important.

The Yamaha R15 V3 has adequate power and torque for the highway, as it can easily hit speeds of 100 KMPH without any effort. Hence it can be said that the Yamaha R15 V3 is suitable in case of power.

Comfort:

On long rides, one of the biggest things to consider is your comfort. As long rides are quite taxing, they require extreme amounts of focus and precision. Hence comfort is very much important. In Bangladesh, most roads have improved significantly over the last few years. However, there are a few roads that are not up to the mark and have quite a few bumps and potholes. In these cases, sports bikes have a tendency of being a bit painful on the back.

Since the Yamaha R15 V3 is a sport bike, it has a very aggressive riding position. On rough roads, the Yamaha R15 V3 has to be ridden very carefully due to the posture of the rider. Other than that, the suspension of the Yamaha R15 V3 is also quite stiff due to being sporty. Hence, the Yamaha R15 V3 is not suitable for long rides in case of comfort.

Efficiency:

In long rides, most bikes have a tendency of being more efficient as bikes ride in a single RPM for a long period of time. However, if a bike has a carbureted engine, it generally consumes more fuel.

The Yamaha R15 V3 is a fairly efficient bike. During test rides, it could be seen that the R15 has a fuel economy of about 45-50 KMPL. This is mostly because of the Fuel Injected engine. Hence, it could be said that the Yamaha R15 V3 is quite suitable for long rides in terms of efficiency.

Maintenance:

The Yamaha R15 V3 is produced by the Japanese giant Yamaha. Yamaha has a reputation of building very strong bikes. Yamaha bikes generally have specific maintenance periods. If these schedules are followed to the ‘T’, Yamaha bikes have a tendency of providing the best performance possible by the bike.

Hence, on long rides, the Yamaha R15 V3 is not much of a hassle in terms of maintenance unless any unexpected situation arises.

Conclusion:

Generally speaking, you definitely can consider the R15 V3 as a touring bike. But in some cases, the biker will have a few different preferences. Hence in those cases, the Yamaha R15 V3 may not be the best for long touring.
