VERDICT
The new Honda SP 160 is a recently launched and feature updated motorcycle model debut in the Honda SP commuter motorcycle series. The motorcycle was launched in the Indian motorcycle market a few months ago in 2023 as the 2024 motorcycle lineup and now Bangladesh Honda Private Limited (BHL) has introduced the model boasting stunning all-new features and enhancements. The motorcycle is now available in the market with new colors and graphics that offer a decent range of prices.
This latest iteration of the new Honda SP 160 completely is a new motorcycle in the Honda SP motorcycle series that holds a 160cc engine and is extensively designed with a refreshed and sporty appearance. However, this new model features Honda’s PGM-FI fuel injection system and complies with BS6 homologation. Thus, along with other technical enhancements and various commuting-oriented refinements, this model is going to be one of the attractively packed power commuters in this market from Honda Motorcycles.

Honda SP 160 – Frame, Wheel, Brake, & Suspension System:
The new Honda SP 160 is the latest addition to the Honda’s commuting-oriented SP motorcycle series. The motorcycle is designed on a diamond-type steel frame. It features all-new sporty paired-spoke alloy rims and tubeless street tires on both wheels. The new motorcycle features a wider rear tire, now sized 130/70-17, while the front tire is 80/100-17.
Regarding the braking system, this commuter motorcycle is equipped with hydraulic disc brakes on its both wheels where an optional drum-type brake at the rear wheel also is available. In addition, for better braking safety the front brake is enhanced with a single-channel ABS safety feature which offers more confidence in varied riding conditions.
In the suspension system, the motorcycle is fitted with an upright hydraulic telescopic fork suspension system in the front, and at the rear, it comes with outer spring-loaded mono suspension. The rear unit is also adjustable type in multiple steps. The new Honda SP 160 is a 160cc street commuter motorcycle. Its engine is a 162.71cc, single-cylinder, four-stroke, air-cooled, SOHC 2-valve engine, that features a PGM-FI fuel feeding system. The bore & stroke measure is 57.300mm X 63.096mm and the compression ratio is of 10:1. The clutch system is a multi-plate wet clutch, and the transmission is a 5-speed gear with the pattern 1-N-2-3-4-5. The engine can be ignited using both the manual kick starter and electric start system.
The new Honda SP160 engine has been refined with Honda’s Enhanced Smart Power (eSP) technology, that maximizes engine performance and fuel efficiency by reducing cylinder and rocker roller arm frictions. Additionally, SP160’s engine is standardized at BS6 emission standard and thus it is now more refined and adjusted for improved power delivery and maximum fuel economy.
However, the new Honda SP160 engine can deliver a maximum power of 9.9kW@7,500RPM and a maximum torque of 14.58Nm@5,500RPM. To complement its performance efficiency, the new motorcycle is weighted only 139kg (Single Disc) / 141kg (Double Disc) which supports in engine performance as well as nimble handling.
