The lubricant brand Veedol has around 110 years of a long history behind and the mother company Tide Water Oil holds one and a quarter-century of legacy in the world oil industry. The Tide Water Oil Company was established by Ernest Whitworth Marland, known as E. W. Marland (May 8, 1874 – October 3, 1941) in 1887 in New York City of America, and thereafter the lubricant brand Veedol was formed in 1913.
After the establishment, the company Tide Water Oil as well as its brands Tydol, Flying A, and Veedol ownerships were sold many times during its entire lifetime. Later, the Tide Water Oil Company defunct in 1966 where its brand ownerships remained under different companies. Thereafter, Tide Water Oil owned by Andrew Yule & Co. Ltd. is now named Tide Water Oil Company (India) and in February 2011 Veedol International Limited (VIL) was entirely acquired by the Tide Water Company again from the British petroleum company BP. Hence Veedol and Tide Water Oils are now an Indian brand and company; accordingly together it’s now completely an Indian business entity.
