In the present time, we ride different categories and types of motorcycles; it’s according to meet our varied purposes. And not every motorcycle is featured the same but a few features we avail quite common in every type of motorcycle. Thus, except the racing motorcycles, regular category motorcycles obviously come with a side stand facility whereas center stands are not much common these days in every motorcycle. Therefore, is the center stand important for a motorcycle? Do we really need that on our motorcycles, let’s find the answer.
Is Center Stand Important For A Motorcycle?(Details)
A motorcycle is a two-wheeled vehicle and like other three or four-wheeled vehicles, it can’t stand independently on the wheels. Thus two-wheelers obviously need the support of a side stand or center stands to stay standing on the ground. Here side stands are very common on most of the type motorcycles except professional racing motorcycles. Whereas few motorcycles especially the small size commuter motorcycles feature center stands hence a large number of motorcycles don’t have center stands.
So is the center stand important for a motorcycle? First, we need to know how the center stand can benefit us. Well, motorcycle center stands actually help us only to keep the motorcycle or scooter standing on the stand, and also lift up the rear wheel of the motorcycle from the ground.
Thus the rear wheel can be rotated freely as also the drive chain. Moreover, the front wheel also can be lifted up easily putting weight on the rear. Hence wheel maintenance, chain maintenance, changing engine lube oil, etc. maintenance work gets much easier by putting the motorcycle on the center stand.
On the counter, the center stands only can be used on a flat or paved surface and can’t be used on uneven surfaces, hence it can be considered a garage tool whereas the side stand is enough to serve basic purposes. Further, only in small-size commuter motorcycles, a center stand can give actual benefits where even it’s not beneficial in scooters.
Accordingly, the center stand is somewhat is a hassle for adventure or dirt bikes. And the most frustrating thing is center stand can’t pull up the heavy weighted or larger capacity bigger bikes due to the weights. Hence center stand can’t be a feasible addition in most of the type motorcycles and here a side stand serves best.
So again, does it a compromise not having a center stand on a motorcycle? The answer is again simply “no”. A center stand in a motorcycle can be eligible part only on small capacity lighter commuter motorcycles and that really serves limited purposes in other category motorcycles it is just a garage tool that we do not use frequently.
Therefore, that limited service or utility very easily can be availed by using paddocks, jack lifters, etc. besides the standard side stands. Hence to be straight, the center stand is really not an important part of a motorcycle. And undoubtedly anyone can ignore the center stands on a motorcycle and simply go with the standard side stands, that’s it.
