Honda Hornet 2.0 – A Practical Naked Sports Bike

The world-renowned Japanese brand Honda is very popular in Bangladesh. For a long time, Bangladeshi bikers had been eagerly waiting for a new bike launch from Honda. On 27/09/2024, Honda Bangladesh Pvt. Ltd. finally launched the Hornet 2.0 in the 180cc segment with a price of 289,000 BDT only. Considering the specifications the bike is competitively and aggressively priced. So, let's take a short overview of this powerful new bike from Honda.

Honda Hornet 2.0 – Design

The Honda Hornet 2.0 has a naked sports design. Some noticeable changes have been made to the look compared to the previous Hornet. The USD suspension, split seat, muscular tank design, extended side kit, and all-LED lights make the bike’s look much more aggressive and modern. The aerodynamic under-cowl is not only practical but also adds a sporty feel. The four attractive color combinations with dual-tone graphics give the bike an excellent road presence.

Honda Hornet 2.0 – Engine Specifications

The Hornet 2.0 is equipped with a BS VI technology Programmed Fuel Injected (PGM-FI) air-cooled single-cylinder, 184.40 cc 4-stroke engine, which produces a maximum of 16.6 horsepower at 8,500 RPM and 15.5 Nm of torque at 6,000 RPM. The wet multi-plate assist and slipper clutch, along with the 5-speed gearbox, ensure smooth shifts and quick response in every gear. The top speed of the bike can range between 125 to 135 km/h.

Here are some key features of the Hornet 2.0:

Seat Height, Weight, and Ground Clearance: The bike has a seat height of 796 mm and a ground clearance of 167 mm. With a curb weight of 142 kg, the bike is quite light, and the weight balance is excellent.

Ignition System: The bike features a self-electric ignition system. As the previous Hornet this model does not include an additional kick-start option.

New Digital Instrument Cluster: The fully digital instrument cluster comes with a fresh design. It displays fuel level, multiple trip meters, speedometer, tachometer, gear indicator, service reminder, battery voltage indicator, turn-by-turn navigation, ABS indicator, side-stand indicator, riding mode, clock, and more. Additionally, the cluster includes an onboard diagnostics (OBD) feature, which alerts the rider to potential issues with the bike. The cluster brightness is adjustable in 5 levels.

LED Headlamp: The DRL and headlamp of the bike are both aggressive and practical, providing excellent light output.

Short Sporty Muffler Exhaust: The short sporty muffler not only provides a deeper bass sound but also enhances the riding experience and adds a premium feel to the bike.

Tubeless Tires: The bike features tubeless tires, with the front tire size of 110/70-17 and the rear tire size of 140/70-17. These tires offer better performance and reduce the risk of punctures or leaks.

Brakes: The Hornet 2.0 comes with a 276 mm front disc and a 220 mm rear disc brake. The bike is equipped with single-channel ABS. This is extremely helpful in rainy or unexpected situations during braking.

Suspension System: The bike features upside-down (USD) forks in the front and a multi-adjustable mono-shock absorber in the rear, ensuring a comfortable riding experience.

Engine Kill Switch and Hazard Indicator: In previous Honda models available in Bangladesh, the lack of an engine kill switch was a noticeable absence. However, the Hornet 2.0 comes equipped with this feature, which is timely and shows Honda's effort to welcoming the modern era. The hazard indicator is also useful for signaling in emergencies or foggy conditions.

Mileage: With a 12-liter fuel capacity, the bike can deliver a mileage of around 50 km per liter. Considering the higher engine capacity, this mileage is quite impressive, as many 150cc bikes offer less. However, the mileage can vary depending on fuel quality and riding style.
