I live at Paltan in Dhaka, and my working place in Gulshan.  Presently I am riding a Yamaha Saluto which is my second bike. In Bangladesh this model was not available before, So after riding this bike for 1200 kms, I want to share my experience of Yamaha Saluto with Everyone.

Before using bikes, I used to travel by bus, CNG, rickshaw and  private cars. In 2014, getting tired of the increasing traffic jam of Dhaka city, I was forced to buy motorcycle.  Though I know how to ride the motorcycle from my 15 to 16 year age, I never wanted to buy one. Than my cousin who was just like my own brother, died in a road accident. Because of that, My family had put an unwritten ban on bikes. However, my first bike was a 80 cc Runner AD80S Deluxe. After suffering various problems from first bike, I bought the second bike - Yamaha Saluto with some thinking.

yamaha saluto 125 price The main purpose of the bike is to get some relief from jam. As I do not go outside of Dhaka, so my first target was that it has to be good looking (but not sports looking), good mileage, light weight , Normal gear shifting pattern (Sports bike gear is very disturbing to me), good break ( I mean front disk break), tubeless tires (most of time my bike tire becomes flat because of poor road quality of Dhaka city). I chose the 125 CC for mileage. The Honda CB Shine and Hero Glamour were dropped out of choice due to hidden suspension. The Bajaj Discover 125 was dropped due to heavy weight. Now the trouble was to choose from TVS Phoenix 125 and Yamaha Saluto. TVS Phoenix has lucrative digital display, 12 liter fuel tank, locator key, soft seat. On the other hand Yamaha Saluto has high brand value, blue core engine, lighter weight than TVS Phoenix, high grand clearance. In the end of my thinking, I bought Yamaha Saluto Disk Brake Edition Bold Blue Version with 1 lakh 70 thousand BDT as the first Saluto customer of Mirpur Crescent Enterprises on November in 2016.

yamaha saluto 125 vs honda shine Bold Blue seems quite interesting to me, and in this color, the bike looks and feels more beautiful. In BikeBD comparison Review Saleh Md. Hasan wrote something that is absolutely precise - ‘’With fuel efficiency, the design of the bike has been given equal priority.  Hence Saluto mostly suits with corporate users where it’s personality fits with the formal present of the rider." yamaha saluto 125 top speed The fuel tank is modern designed. Headlight, Windscreen, Taillight, over all the getup of the bike is modern and magnificent. From the first ride I felt that the engine was refined and controlling was good. The 0 to 70 kmph acceleration is quick, then the climb becomes little slow and vibrates a bit. I do not know about the top speed of the bike as I did not try. the breaking system is more than enough sophisticated. yamaha saluto 125 disc Despite the fact that Yamaha Saluto has narrow wheel , till now there has been no hassle in breaking, not even a skid. The tires got good grips, and the tubeless tires saves a bit more from puncture. Suspension felt good, as there is less shaking even in rough roads. My pillion said the same. After purchasing the bike I took 7.6 liters of fuel from Trust Filling. From the first riding I am receiving a mileage of 60 kms per liter. I did the first service in 350 km and changed the engine oil with Yamalube 20W40. The second service was done at 950 km. This time I changed the engine oil with Yamalube Optima. yamaha-saluto-125-mileage So, at the end of the day, I would say the fuel consumption is good, because it's the daily mileage by riding in severe traffic.  Another thing is getting comfortable; Speed breakers can be crossed without any compromise and this advantage is for the high ground clearance of the bike. The gears are smooth enough but Sometimes it is hard to shift gears. yamaha saluto 125 price in bangladesh

Negative Sides

  • The headlight brightens and fades with pickup and 35 watt lamp light is just not enough . After first buying it I had to convert the lights from AC to DC and set up RTD LED headlights.
  • Yamaha Saluto Have analog display meters. It doesn’t look bad but there is no battery gauge. 125 cc bikes like Hero Glamour, TVS Phoenix have Analog-Digital Combo Display.
  • Seats are too long but very much stiff and not comfortable. It hurts to ride for a long time. In this case the seat is too soft in TVS Phoenix.
  • Seat height is much high. My height is 5 feet 4 inches, Sometimes it is difficult to reach the ground.
  • The sound of the horn is not enough. One pair has been replaced by a single horn. My previous 80 cc Runner AD80S Deluxe also had a pair of strong horns.

yamaha saluto 125 review, These minor issues aside, I'll say Yamaha Saluto is one of the best in the commuting segment. Hopefully ACI Motors will  bring proper maintenance and spare parts for Yamaha Bikes. Written By: Dr. Mizanur Rahman   You can send us your motorcycle ownership review too.
