The New Generation of MotoGP Riders

Last updated on 18-Aug-2024 , By Arif Raihan Opu

MotoGP has a history of being ruled by certain riders over the last three decades. There were quite a few other winners as well, but Mick Doohan and Wayne Rainey ruled the better part of the 1990s. After Mick Doohan, came Valentino Rossi, who single-handedly ruled the tracks of MotoGP in the first decade of 2000. Later came the Wonder Boy Marc Marquez. Marc has pushed the boundaries of every single MotoGP track of the present day. All the above-mentioned riders have had their own decades and leadership in almost every single race they participated.

The New Generation of MotoGP Riders (Details)

But all of the aforementioned riders have had their time and have come down from their thrones. Now we have the new generations of riders in MotoGP who are coming to break the records their predecessors set. MotoGP fans now are in a confused state after the fall of Marc, as to which rider will take Marc’s place. We have compiled a list of the top contenders of MotoGP riders who might take the place of Marc in the grand scheme of MotoGP.

Joan Mir

Joan Mir is the winner of the 2020 MotoGP world Championship. Joan Mir won the title on a Suzuki Factory bike under the Suzuki team. Joan Mir is an up and coming rider of the new generation. Mir started his racing career in 2013. He has signed with Honda for the 2023 season. In the present season, Joan Mir is placed thirteenth in the table, but last season he was placed third. Joan Mir created history when he won the world championship with Suzuki in the premier class, because the last time Suzuki won was back in 2000. We can expect to see a different and more aggressive Mir in the Honda lineup as he is still young.

Francesco Bagnaia

Francesco Bagnaia is presently the rider for Ducati Lenovo Team. He is a factory rider with a bright future. Bagnaia has been bagging (pun intended) quite a few podiums this season with the Ducati. Bagnaia is also second in the overall standings of MotoGP in this season. Bagnaia is extremely aggressive in the straight lines and while entering and exiting corners. This allows for Bagnaia to penetrate through almost any defense he is facing. Bagnaia also has a history of going head to head with the 8 times champion Marc Marquez.

Enea Bastianini

Bastianini is the second rider of the Ducati Lenovo Team. He is one of the finest riders MotoGP has seen. Bastianini is also the former champion of the Moto2 2020. This year, Bastianini has had quite a few podiums this season. This season Bastianini and Bagnaia are pushing everything this season in order to take the title from the defending champion. But due to inconsistent riding in different races, Bastianini is in fourth place this season. Bastianini has a very bright future in MotoGP if he can bring consistency to his riding.

Fabio Quartararo

The Number “20” wearing rider with the nickname “El Diablo” is the most promising rider in MotoGP of the present time. Fabio Quartararo is the factory rider for Monster Yamaha. He came in as the replacement of Valentino Rossi. Fabio is the present reigning world champion of premier class MotoGP. Fabio was also one of the top contenders of MotoGP in 2020 only to be brought down after not finishing a few races on the top place. But he came back stronger and better in 2021 with 5 podiums and at the top of the table. Fabio Quartararo is one of the finests riders in MotoGP history with a very bright future. Fabio is vigorous, tenacious, and fierce on the tracks.

In conclusion, we can say without the shadow of a doubt that the future of MotoGP is in good hands. All of these riders will succeed their predecessors with a lot of new records and new history. All of these riders are a treat to see and fascinating to observe. Unlike the monopolies created by Rossi and Marquez, these riders will be forming a healthy competition between themselves.
