Last updated on 02-Feb-2025 , By Badhon Roy

When it comes to popular bikes in the 155cc segment in Bangladesh, the Suzuki Gixxer is undoubtedly at the top listed. Over time, the Gixxer series has seen significant changes in its design language and specifications and higher cc versions have been launched.

However, the first version of the Gixxer is popularly known as the Monotone still remains at the top in terms of popularity and sales. Due to its affordable pricing, aggressive naked design, reliability, and low maintenance costs, people are equally interested in the Gixxer Monotone even in 2025.

Currently, the market price of the Gixxer Monotone is only Tk 2,05,950. Let’s take a look at how this bike will fare for bikers in 2025 within this price range, what specifications it offers, its limitations in the current context, and which bikers it is most suitable for.

Suzuki Gixxer Monotone – Design

The Gixxer Monotone features a naked sports commuter category design. Its compact muscular look, V-shaped headlight, aerodynamic shape, and curvy single seat make it quite attractive.

Additionally, the compact dual-barrel exhaust looks very stylish and delivers a nice bass output. The bike is available in 5 attractive colors, and since the entire bike is in a single color without any additional shades or tones, it has gained popularity as the "Monotone."

Suzuki Gixxer Monotone – Engine Specifications

The Gixxer 155 is equipped with a BS-IV technology carbureted air-cooled single-cylinder, 154.9cc 4-stroke engine that produces a maximum power of 14.6 horsepower at 8000 RPM and a maximum torque of 14 Newton-meters at 6000 RPM.

It features a wet multi-plate assist and slipper clutch along with a 5-speed gearbox that delivers smooth and quick responses in every gear. The top speed in the 155cc category can range between 125-135 km/h. The bike’s engine size is relatively small, requiring only 850 ml of engine oil with a grade of 10w40.

Suzuki Gixxer Monotone – Features

Some notable features of the Gixxer 155 include:

Seat Height, Weight, and Ground Clearance

The bike has a seat height of 780 mm and a ground clearance of 160 mm. With a kerb weight of 135 kg and excellent weight balancing, it offers better control.

Ignition System

It comes with both kick and self-electric ignition.

Digital Instrument Cluster

The fully digital instrument cluster is inspired by Suzuki’s other popular sports bike GSXR 155. It includes a fuel level indicator, multiple trip meters, a speedometer, tachometer, gear indicator, service indicator, battery voltage indicator, ABS indicator, side stand indicator, riding mode, clock, and more.

Dual Barrel Muffler Exhaust

The bike’s exhaust system features a short dual-barrel muffler, which not only delivers a better bass sound but also ensures a better riding experience and enhances the bike’s premium feel.

Tubeless Tires

The bike comes with tubeless tires—front tire size: 100/80-17, rear tire size: 140/60-17. Both Ceat and MRF tubeless tires are provided, which are capable of handling all types of roads with reduced risk of punctures or leaks and deliver better performance.

Brakes

The bike is equipped with a 266 mm front disc brake and a 130 mm rear disc brake. However, no ABS version has been launched for this model so far.

Suspension System

The bike features telescopic front forks and a multi-adjustable mono-shock absorber at the rear, making the ride more comfortable.

Mileage

With a 12-liter fuel tank capacity, the 155cc bike delivers a mileage of around 40-45 km per liter. Considering it’s a carbureted 155cc bike, this mileage is quite impressive, though it may vary depending on fuel quality and riding style.

Who is the Gixxer 155 Monotone For?

Bikers with shorter heights can easily ride this bike. Due to its low seat height and ground clearance, even a 5.3-foot-tall rider can comfortably control it. Additionally, the bike’s look gives a strong road presence, and its ready pickup and braking combination make it suitable for riders of all ages.

Moreover, its low maintenance cost and the availability of official parts across Bangladesh make it a worry-free choice for those concerned about maintenance. Most importantly, for those with a budget around Tk 2 lakh who are looking for an affordable 155cc bike, the Gixxer Monotone can be one of the best choices.

Limitations of the Gixxer 155 Monotone

The Suzuki Gixxer 155 Monotone has some noticeable limitations. The first limitation is its headlight. Although LED lights were not very common when this model was launched, riding at night with a halogen bulb can be quite challenging.

Another limitation is the rear drum brake. While Suzuki’s braking systems are considered among the best, having a disc brake instead of a drum brake would have increased riding confidence.

Another significant issue reported by almost all Monotone users is the tight clutch and gear shifter, which puts considerable pressure on the hands and feet during city rides. Additionally, the pillion seat is not very comfortable for long rides, making it a negative point for those who travel long distances with family.

For those with a budget around Tk 2 lakh, after considering all aspects and comparing it with other bikes in the segment, the Gixxer Monotone can be a great choice. Its affordability and reliability have made it one of the best-selling 155cc bikes in Bangladesh to this day.
