Last updated on 24-Nov-2024 , By Badhon Roy

There’s no need for an introduction to the world-renowned Austrian brand KTM. Targeting the younger generation, this MotoGP contender brand is internationally acclaimed for its acceleration, top speed, and initial power. Hence, its brand tagline: Ready to Race.

While KTM’s 125cc lineup bikes are popular among enthusiasts in Bangladesh, the brand’s globally acclaimed lineups mostly start above 200cc. With the rising interest in higher CC limits, Bangladeshi bikers are showing immense enthusiasm for the popular naked streetfighter Duke 250, which is already a hit in neighboring India and other countries. Here in this article, we’ll take a detailed look at the KTM Duke 250.

KTM Duke 250 – Design

It’s worth noting that KTM bikes are available in both Austrian and Indian variants in the international market. Although previous models exhibited noticeable differences in design, TFT instrument clusters, and features, the current models show minimal disparities in design language and features.

As a naked bike, the KTM Duke 250 boasts an aggressive and sporty look. The aerodynamic shape of the fuel tank body kit gives it a premium feel and makes the bike appear large or bulky. The Trellis Frame with Subframe not only enhances its appearance but also ensures durability. The dual headlight and taillight designs are futuristic and aggressive.

The upright handlebar provides a comfortable seating position, and the placement of the rearview mirrors is practical and wide. The bike is available internationally in three attractive color combinations: Blue Black, Ceramic White, and Electric Orange.

KTM Duke 250 – Engine Specifications

The KTM Duke 250 features a 249.07cc LC4C liquid-cooled single-cylinder DOHC engine with 4 valves and 4 strokes. This engine is compliant with Euro 5 and BS7 standards, depending on the variant. It produces a maximum power of 31 horsepower at 9,250 RPM and 25 Nm of torque at 7,250 RPM. The bike is equipped with an assist and slipper clutch, quick shifter, and a 6-speed gearbox, ensuring smooth and quick responsiveness. The top speed is approximately 140-145 km/h.

KTM Duke 250 – Features

Some notable features of the KTM Duke 250 include:

Seat Height, Weight, and Ground Clearance:

The bike has a seat height of 800mm and a ground clearance of 176mm. Despite having a kerb weight of 165kg, the weight balance is exceptional.

Ignition System:

It comes with an electric self-start ignition system.

Digital Instrument Cluster:

The bike features a 5-inch smart TFT screen, which may resemble a smartphone at first glance. This impressive cluster allows riders to customize screen themes. In addition to basic information, it displays crucial data such as temperature, map navigation, trip meters, speedometer, tachometer, gear indicator, service indicator, ABS indicator, side stand indicator, and clock. Moreover, it supports headset connectivity, enabling riders to sync the cluster with KTM’s app and connect communicators or intercoms to the bike.

Underbelly Exhaust:

The underbelly exhaust system not only enhances the bass sound but also reduces additional weight.

Tubeless Tires:

The bike features durable alloy rims with tubeless tires – 110/70-17 at the front and 150/60-17 at the rear, ensuring a pleasant riding experience.

Braking System:

It uses large disc brakes – 320mm at the front and 240mm at the rear. The master cylinder uses DOT 4 oil, and the bike features Bosch’s dual-channel Supermoto ABS, as per KTM’s official website. It includes ABS on/off and intensity adjustment options, catering especially to stunt riders.

Cornering ABS:

To prevent accidents caused by slipping during leaning, the bike is equipped with cornering ABS, which is a life-saving feature.

Suspension System:

The front suspension features WP Apex upside-down forks (USD), while the rear has a multi-adjustable monoshock absorber with 10-step adjustability, ensuring a comfortable ride.

Mileage:

With a 15-liter fuel capacity, the bike delivers a mileage of 30-32 km per liter. Considering the 250cc engine, this is commendable, though mileage may vary based on fuel quality and riding style.

Conclusion

This overview highlights the features of the KTM Duke 250. Designed and marketed for the youth, this bike is expected to gain immense popularity in Bangladesh, just as it has in neighboring countries.

In its segment, it’s anticipated to be a strong competitor to existing bikes in the Bangladeshi market. However, due to its international pricing, it may come at a premium. Nevertheless, we hope KTM ensures reasonable pricing and a steady supply of spare parts for the Bangladeshi market.
