People asked me a lot of question about Yamaha so here are some of their answers:
  • Why don’t they bring lower engine capacity bikes?
ANS: Karnaphuli motors says that if it bring bikes of lower cc that it will cost the customers a lot of money, for example in market a 125cc Indian bike cost around 1.55-1.60 lac where if they bring Yamaha Gladiator 125cc it will cost the customers around 1.75-1.80 lac, a price tag which many won’t buy and it won’t do good to the their business policy.
  • When will they go into production in Bangladesh like HONDA?
ANS: The process is ongoing alone with Japan, no fixed date yet but it won’t be before 2016.
  • Why don’t they import SPECIAL EDITIONS bikes in Bangladesh?
ANS:  Special Editions bikes are made only for the Indian market, not for overseas.
  • Yamaha India has released some new colour scheme for FSZ, Fazer and R15 V2.0 when will we get them in Bangladesh?
ANS: They are expecting the new colours to come at June- July of this year.
  • Probably the biggest question of them all, WHY IS R 15V2.0 cost double of FZS?
ANS: Let’s start from the beginning, in Bangladesh motorcycles comes in two way CKD (Complete Knock Down), where they bring all the spare parts from outside and bolt them in their factory and make a complete bike. And then there is CBU (Complete Build Unit) in this case they import the whole bike from other country and then they just sell it, the only things they add is the looking glass and battery & sometimes few plastic kit which might get broken in transportation. Now in CKD a bike manufacturer pay 108% TAX while in CBU 134% TAX, Fazer and FZS both comes in CKD format where they are assembled in Bangladesh brining spares from India while R15 V2.0 comes in CBU format which comes as a whole so it cost more due to the higher tax that is paid to the government. Hope this article will help you to get some answer about Karnaphuli Industries. Appreciate your valuable comment.
