Globally motorcycle riding is a popular activity. It's due to freedom of mobility, and adventure, and translates the passion for the open road. However, motorcycling often can cause risks and make some health issues like many other outdoor activities. Consequently, we have some anxiety as riding a motorcycle for a prolonged period continuously may impact on male fertility. Therefore, here we will try to illuminate this issue backed with some considerable clues whether motorcycle riding can cause male infertility or not.

Can Motorcycle Riding Cause Male Infertility?

Like any outdoor or adventure activity, motorcycling also has some impact on the human body. Sequentially, it advised to maintain a sound health condition while anyone involved in hardcore motorcycling and maintain a minimum healthful condition for commuting with motorcycles. However, the concerns linked male infertility to motorcycle riding can be relateable with specifically on two factors: excessive heat and vibration. So, let’s try to know how much risks are there in motorcycling considering those factors.

Impacts By Heat Exposure

We know, that male fertility is directly related to male testes, which produce sperm. This male sex organ works optimally at a slightly lower temperature than the male body’s core temperature. Hence, prolonged exposure of heat on the tests can hamper sperm production and reduce sperm quality and quantity. Therefore, when riding a motorcycle for an extremely long period or dealing with extremely dense traffic the rider's tests can badly deal with heat exposure caused by engine heat.

Thus, it can be a raising concern about the potential impact on men's fertility. However, it’s obviously a temporary impact and it can cause a temporary decrease in sperm production. Moreover, by any scientific study, it has not been established yet that this type of heat exposure by motorcycling can cause male infertility. And, any heat-related impact on sperm production is naturally reversible once the heat exposure is reduced. So, there is very little concern about heat exposure to worry about it.

Impacts By Excess Vibration

Another factor that related to motorcycle riding is constant vibration which has impacts on male fertility. Uneven and extreme vibration for longer periods or constantly has negative impacts on the reproductive organs of the human body. Some scientific studies describe that prolonged exposure to vibrations, particularly at high frequencies, can negatively affect proper blood circulation inside the organs.

Improper blood flow to the testes can cause microtrauma, and that can potentially reduce sperm quality and productivity. But the study also says the effects of vibration on male fertility are less extensive. Moreover, riding a motorcycle does not create that much vibration which can traumatize the male sperm production. Hence impacts on sperm production by vibration caused by motorcycling are ignorable, especially in recreational motorcycle riding or regular duration of riding.

How Much Risks Are Involved With Motorcycling?

Riding a motorcycle obviously requires soundness of riders' physical and mental health. And no doubt every rider should ride within their own limit and capability and definitely maintain some riding manner to keep themselves fit and healthful. However, the issues on men's fertility caused by motorcycling are theoretically conceivable but the scientific evidence on this topic is still limited and not conclusive.

Therefore, it Is important to maintain proper care of own health if you are a rider. One should ride following proper riding manner and take adequate breaks to relax physically in case of long riding, especially in uneven weather conditions. Moreover, in case of professional riders, one should follow the guidance of professional healthcare specialists. In addition, it’s important to consider to avoid bad habits that impact fertility like drinking alcohol, smoking, taking stress, etc. That’s it.
